DUNKIRK – Bicyclists can get a lift on buses in Dunkirk, thanks to a demonstration project sponsored by the Chautauqua County Health Network and the state Health Department.
Bike racks have been installed on Chautauqua Area Regional Transport System (CARTS) buses on two routes in the city. County Executive Greg Edwards notes that a bus rider can bring along a bike, then get off and pedal.
“For example, a rider may take the bus to work and then ride their bike home,” Edwards says.
Cheryl Gustafson, senior project coordinator for CARTS, says that if the project is successful, it will be introduced on city routes in Jamestown and on rural routes.
