Employees at Erie County Medical Center will honor the memory of Jackie Wisniewski with a moment of silence at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, marking one year since she was shot to death by her estranged boyfriend inside a stairwell at the hospital.

Wisniewski, who was 33, worked as a secretary at ECMC. She was killed there by Dr. Timothy V. Jorden Jr., a trauma surgeon who had stalked her since the end of their relationship and who took his own life later on the morning of June 13, 2012.

ECMC also will host a prayer service for Wisniewski on Thursday, during which hospital officials will unveil plans for a memorial dedicated in her name.

And the hospital is undertaking the Clothesline Project, a weeklong initiative that features a series of T-shirts advocating against domestic violence. This project will conclude Monday, when the Theatre for Change will put on a performance named “The Impact of Domestic Violence in the Workplace” at 11:30 a.m. in the Smith Auditorium at ECMC.

Anyone interested in attending this performance may call 898-3000 for more information.
