LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Jack Jurek of Lackawanna leaped from 35th to 12th place with a final game of 279 in his round and Buffalo native Tom Baker was sixth after the second round of qualifying in the USBC Senior Masters Tournament at South Point Hotel and Casino.

Jurek shot 1,128 for his round on Tuesday for 2,139 overall for 10 games. Baker, now of King, N.C., shot 1,078 in his five-game block including a 246 for a total of 2,182. Kenny Parks of Hammond, Ind., is the leader with 2,221.

Bob Rudnick, Jr., of West Seneca was in 167th place with 1,879 for 10 games.

The field of 264 will bowl five more games today before the field is cut to 63 for double-elimination match play starting on Thursday.
