Bring two-lane travel back to Delaware Ave.

Once again common sense took a “leave of absence.” Kenmore recently decided to make Delaware Avenue a single-lane traffic configuration. A recent walk showed traffic at the signal light at Delaware and Lincoln backed up from the traffic signal at Delaware and LaSalle. A perfect gridlock prevented cars from entering Delaware from the side streets.

Now the vehicles are forced to string out single file, making bumper-to-bumper travel on Delaware. This new pattern may be a blessing in disguise for motorists. They cannot be ticketed for speeding when they’re traveling bumper to bumper between traffic signals. The village coffers will probably suffer as a result.

This would be a perfect opportunity to right a wrong and hopefully see the traffic “light of day.” Let Delaware Avenue traffic return to two-lane travel.
