BURT – A benefit to assist the McClew Interpretive Center in its effort to acquire all real property and take over all operations of the McClew Farmstead within the next five years will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The farm is located at 2402 McClew Road. Established in 1807 by the McClew family, it has been in operation as Murphy Orchards for the past 33 years and has hosted more than 40,000 visitors per year. It has been recognized as a certified site of the National Park Service Underground Railroad Network to Freedom and the New York State Heritage Trail.
Called “Preserving Trails Through Time,” Sunday’s event will feature tractor-drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, food and informative tours of the barn. A wine-tasting will feature products from five local members of the Niagara Wine Trail, and the Barker Community Band will perform at 7. There is no admission but donations are accepted.
