A motorcyclist who sped away from a state trooper after a traffic stop. A pedestrian who crossed a major highway against the green light. A driver who drifted into oncoming traffic.

They were victims Wednesday in three fatal accidents across the Northtowns.

The motorcyclist, Patrick S. Conway, 18, who would have graduated this month from Clarence High School, hit an oncoming car head-on on Main Street near Harris Hill Road in Clarence just before 9 a.m. as he fled from a trooper at speeds of more than 100 mph.

The pedestrian, a 49-year-old woman whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was struck by a car just after 5 a.m. as she crossed Niagara Falls Boulevard at Willow Ridge Drive after purchasing items at a convenience store. Town of Tonawanda police said she was wearing dark clothing.

The driver, a woman who was not immediately identified, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming car on Millersport Highway between the 990 and Smith Road in Amherst shortly after 3 p.m.
