SOMERSET – Michael Flint, 56, has announced his candidacy for Town of Somerset highway superintendent in November.

Longtime Superintendent Kenneth Bigelow will retire at the end of the year.

Flint has owned Mike Flint Trucking Co. since 1998 and managed an auto parts store for 22 years prior to that. A Somerset native and registered Republican, this is his first time tossing his hat into the political ring.

“I dive into everything with both feet, and I have experience with budgets and maintenance, and have had people work for me,” said Flint. “I’m fair and well-respected.”

Flint serves as president of the Genesee County Winter Travelling Trap League and is vice president of the Somerset Conservation Club. He is a past president of Somerset Youth Baseball and past master of the Somerset Masonic Lodge 639.
