TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A Newfane man told sheriff’s deputies he was on his way home from a late-night food run early Saturday when two men robbed him at gunpoint and then torched his car.

The 34-year-old victim told deputies he was driving home shortly before 3 a.m. when he saw a man trying to wave him down in the area of Lake Avenue and Slayton Settlement Road. He pulled over, and the man approached his passenger window to ask for directions to Olcott.

As the victim spoke with the man at the roadside, another man came up to his driver’s side window brandishing a handgun and demanded money. The victim handed over his wallet, containing $500, and as he did the first man began dousing the inside and outside of his vehicle with some type of liquid, the victim reported. He then threw a match, igniting the car. The two suspects then fled south along Lake Avenue.

The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived, and it was a total loss.
