NIAGARA FALLS – A walk in memory of Pascal Scrufari, the man who drowned last year while trying to rescue his dogs from Hyde Park Lake, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday in the park.

The event is a fund-raiser for the SPCA of Niagara.

Scrufari was walking his three golden retrievers Feb. 15, 2012, when one ran onto the ice of the lake and fell through.

The 1.5-mile walk will be led by Frank Cacciatore, a Niagara Falls firefighters who rescued the three dogs and subsequently adopted them. Registration on the day of the walk will cost $20 for adults; it’s free for those younger than 17.

Scrufari memorial walk is Saturday in Hyde Park
