LOCKPORT – Trek Inc., the Medina electronic instrument maker, will move its operations to Lockport in early July, City Planning and Development Director R. Charles Bell said Thursday after touring the Harrison Place site with members of the board of directors of the Greater Lockport Development Corp., the city’s development agency.

Construction in the former auto parts plant at Walnut and Washburn streets is proceeding well, Mayor Michael W. Tucker said.

Trek, which signed a 10-year lease with a 10-year renewal option, is to move about 80 jobs to Lockport and create about 20 more in the near future, Bell said. The company already has 26 people working in space on Canal Street in Lockport in its research and development department. Trek’s Medina plant is to be sold soon.

Also Thursday, the development board approved a contract with J. Fitzgerald Group, a Lockport advertising agency, to prepare print advertising copy. The development corporation will spend up to $11,000 on ad space and copy preparation.
