NIAGARA FALLS – City police said a man told them he was assaulted by two men, one carrying a metal object, who hit him in the back of his head as he walked into his apartment building in the 200 block of 77th Street just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The 29-year-old man talked to police from a hospital bed in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

He said that there were two men, one of whom hit him with the metal object, and that the men took an Xbox game system that he had been carrying in a shopping bag.

The game system was valued at $300. The victim said he ran and the men chased him.

He said that when they caught up to him, one man continued to hit him with the metal object, while the other one was punched him and kicked him in the arms and shoulder.

The victim said he continued to run and get hit, until he found his father, who took him home. The man said his mother drove him to the hospital.

A nurse at the hospital told police the victim had contusions on his head and was sore on his arms and shoulders but was not seriously hurt.

The case was turned over the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
