Unionized workers at the DuPont Yerkes plant in the Town of Tonawanda held an informational picket Thursday, calling for progress on a new labor agreement.

“We’ve been without a contract for over a year, and negotiations have basically gone nowhere,” said Gary Guralny, president of Local 6992, United Steelworkers of America, which represents 350 workers at the plant.

In a statement, plant manager Warren C. Hoy said that the union opened the contract in April 2012 and that the two sides have met “over 30 times” to try to reach an agreement since then. “We remain committed to this objective and believe this is best achieved at the bargaining table,” Hoy said. “We are fully prepared to continue to run the plant safely and with no disruption of supply to our customers.”
