The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra has a couple of busy and colorful days ahead.
At 7 tonight, Associate Conductor Matthew Kraemer joins the orchestra in a voyage through Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony. Part of the orchestra’s new “Know The Score” series, the event welcomes classical music veterans and newcomers alike who are interested in shedding light on this brilliant, extroverted masterpiece. Shot through with heroism and strength, the “Eroica” culminates in one of Beethoven’s most famous melodies. It’s a piece of music everyone should know, and Kraemer and the musicians will take you through it, explaining its intricacies. Admission to “Know the Score” is $25.
At 10:30 a.m. Friday and 8 p.m. Saturday, the BPO presents “Patriotic Pops,” its annual extravaganza that pays tribute to our nation and our armed forces. This year’s music focuses on the era from World War I to the present day. Admission to Patriotic Pops is $31-$51 (Friday morning) and $27-$74 (Saturday).
