Coming attractions

• The Section VI softball tournament continues today with 24 games in several classes. The Monsignor Martin championship is Wednesday at 4:15 at Sunshine Park.

• The Monsignor Martin Association’s Georgetown Cup baseball playoffs issue their first pitches today, with winners advancing to Saturday’s semifinals. The Section VI tournament continues with quarterfinal action today.

• The Monsignor Martin boys lacrosse semifinals are today as St. Joe’s hosts St. Francis and Nichols plays at Bishop Timon-St. Jude. The Section VI boys lacrosse tournament has several quarterfinal matchups today, which will set the field for Thursday’s semifinals.

• The Section VI girls lacrosse quarterfinals are today, with semifinal action on Thursday. Lancaster (Class A), Hamburg (B) and Lake Shore (C) are the top seeds. The Monsignor Martin championship is at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Nichols.

• The Section VI girls golf championship will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Gowanda Country Club.

• Several local crews, including state champion boats from Canisius, will compete in the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s Scholastic Nationals on Friday and Saturday at Cooper River, N.J. On Monday, the 29th annual Fontana All-High City Rowing Championships will be held at West Side Rowing Club, in what the club is calling the largest city championship regatta in recent memory. More than 300 athletes from 10 programs will compete, with racing starting at 9 a.m. and the schedule to conclude at 2 p.m. on the Black Rock Channel.

• The ECIC Track and Field Championships are Friday and Saturday at Hamburg. The Buffalo Public School’s All-High Championship meet is today and Wednesday at All High Stadium, starting both days at 4:15 p.m. The Niagara Frontier League meet is at Lew-Port at 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Olean hosts the Chautauqua-Cattaragus championships Friday and Saturday.

• The Section VI Boys tennis Championships are today and Wednesday at Lancaster. ECIC champion Harry Wang of Williamsville North and Mike Rusk of Williamsville East, a finalist last year, are among the favorites. The top three singles players and top three doubles teams advance to next weekend’s state tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.

• The Ilio DiPaolo Wrestling Scholarship dinner is Thursday at the Blasdell restaurant starting at 7 p.m.

Bulletin board

• The fifth Tom Borrelli Memorial Award Golf Tournament presented by the Buffalo Bandits will be held Monday, July 1 at Holland Hills. At the fundraiser, the Borrelli Award will be presented to the top senior boys player and top senior girls player in Western New York. The golf tournament is a 10 a.m. shotgun scramble and costs is $100 per golfer. Raffle donations and souvenir program ads are being sought from local businesses.
