Todd Miller is the owner of Miller Tennis Center with his wife Debbie. His list of accomplishments in tennis are almost legendary. Among his accolades are being inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the Sweet Home High School Sports Hall of Fame, and the State University at Buffalo Hall of Fame.
In addition, Miller is responsible for establishing the Buffalo Tennis Hall of Fame, the Muny Tennis Hall of Fame, Buffalo Tennis Night, and the Buffalo Tennis Series. He is also a National Coach, USA High Performance Coach, PTR National Clinician, and was responsible for staging the first Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament in Western New York.
Miller was also instrumental in having numerous world class speakers and exhibition matches that have included world class tennis stars such as home grown product Jimmy Arias, former French Open Doubles Champions Luke and Murphy Jensen; among others. He is also the only designated Master Tennis Professional in the history of Western New York.
As incredible as these accomplishments are, Miller recently reached the apex of his tennis career when he was presented with the designation of “International Master Professional” by the Professional Tennis Registry on May 1 at the International Tennis Symposium in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) is a global organization with 15,000 tennis coaches and teaching professionals in 126 countries.
PTR president Jorge Andrew is a former ATP player, played Davis Cup for Venezuela, and is also an International Master Professional. On Miller receiving the prestigious award, Andrew said, “The title of International Master Professional is reserved for the world’s best. It is a career lifetime achievement designation based on excellence in coaching and for contributions to the sport of tennis. Todd Miller is very deserving of this honor and his career achievements speak for themselves.”
To show you how incredible Miller’s award was, the International Master Professional award puts Miller in the same company as Arthur Ashe, former U.S. Open and Wimbledon singles champion Billie Jean King, many time Grand Slam singles and doubles winner Dennis Van der Meer, who is unanimously recognized as one of the greatest teaching professionals in the history of tennis, and Dr. Jim Loehr, who is recognized as a renowned sports psychologist.
Upon receiving the International Master Professional award, Miller said, “Joining this elite group of individuals from around the world, particularly Dennis Van der Meer, is the ultimate honor for me as Dennis was the biggest influence in my tennis career. He greatly inspired me and I consider him to be the person most responsible for a great amount of my success in tennis.”
