Peace Bridge project is crucial for both countries

For the first time in decades, the Buffalo Niagara region is at the forefront of development in New York State. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is focused on Western New York, recognizing the momentum that is building with Canalside and the waterfront, the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and with other significant initiatives throughout the area. When viewed collectively, however, the success of these individual initiatives has a much more profound impact on the region, and Cuomo understands and embraces the bigger picture. He also understands that there is another piece of the puzzle that has yet to be realized: the improvements to the Peace Bridge plaza on the U.S. side.

The governor now sees the critical role that these improvements will play in the continued progress of this area, but also realizes the positive effect an expeditious resolution to the recent conflict will have on both the United States and Canada in strengthening our economies and facilitating cross-border activity. This is a crucial project for both countries, and I have every confidence that Cuomo and his team will move this process forward swiftly and fairly.
