The 50th annual George A. Obenauer Masters is getting juicy.

With two days of tournament action left at Thruway Lanes, two teen sensations still have a shot at the prestigious title. While Andrew Herbert of Eden and Chad Mee of Hamburg have attracted most of the attention, veteran Tour pro Joe Ciccone has quietly positioned himself to win a third Masters title.

Ciccone beat Mee, the top qualifier, 644-623, in Friday’s late Winners Bracket matches and will face Tonawanda’s Mike Zarcone today at 7:45 p.m. The tournament resumes at 6:30 p.m. with 17-year-old Mee returning to action against past champion Liz Johnson, who won two Losers Bracket elimination matches Friday after dropping a 649-619 decision to 18-year-old Herbert. Herbert faces Depew’s Jeff Hejna in the Winners Bracket.

Ciccone trailed by four pins heading into the final game against Mee. He won the game, 216-191.
