The Buffalo History Museum this week will hold another in its series of M&T Third Fridays, Giants of Buffalo: Sports with a lineup of WNY individuals who achieved and witnessed extraordinary moments in local sports history. The event will be at the Buffalo History Museum (at Elmwood Avenue and Nottingham Terrace). A cocktail reception will be at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 7.
Former Bills Booker Edgerson and Ed Rutkowski, retired Canisius College athletics director and author Dr. Dan Starr and Paul Wieland, author, TV producer and former Sabres public relations executive, will regale the audience with stories, anecdotes and great moments in sports history as they lived it.
NHL play-by-play voice Pete Weber will moderate the event and a portion of the program will be open for audience questions. Photographs and artifacts provided by the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame will be on exhibit.

The Orchard Park Gymsters brought home 44 meadls from the Level 6 New York State Gymnastics Championships earlier this month. Gold medals were won by Natalie Jerge in Junior A all-around, Kaylee Organista in Senior E bars and floor exercise, Taylor Jones in Senior E vault, Kiera Callahan in Senior B beam and Liz DiOrio in Junior B bars. Silver medals were won by Jerge in the vault and beam, DiOrio in the vault, Jones in all-around, Jordyn Moonan in Child B floor exercise, Madison Wild in Senior C beam and Julia Pupko in Senior E floor exercise. Bronze medals were won by Jerge, Moonan, Emily Zimmerman in Senior D bars, Hannah Selden in Senior D beam, Natalie Wilkinson in Junior E beam and Kelsey Zabawa in Junior C floor exercise.
