Too many are excluded from state’s tax rebate

It would appear that our elected officials are trying once again to buy votes by offering a tax rebate in the form of cash. They are once again falling short of their target. Please tell me how offering a tax rebate only to middle class families with children younger than age 17 is going to earn officials all the votes they need to be re-elected.

The percentage of older folks without dependents who will not be getting this tax rebate will be close to that of people with dependents. So, with this reasoning, they would be buying only half of the votes.

Also consider the fact that many in the younger generation do not even exercise their right to vote. Good luck with re-elections to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and to all of those in favor of not extending the tax rebate to those of us older citizens who do vote and pay taxes.
