The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

My name is Carol Jarczyk, I’ve lived in the Gardenville section of West Seneca for 35 years. If re-elected this year, I will be proud to serve my 10th year on the West Seneca Board of Education. Serving four of those years as President and currently serving as Vice President, my main goal is to continue my support to all of our students in any way I can. I would like to continue to be involved in the commitment that I see daily between our students, teachers, parents and the public.

With the tight budget constraints, and working closely with our Central Team experts and Unions, I would like to be part of the great job that has been done so for to continue student achievement without major layoffs.

I’ve been involved with our school system since 1986, when our oldest son started school at Northwood Elementary. During our two sons’ years in elementary school, I served on:

• the PTA holding every office

• Shared Decision Making Team

• Volunteer Breakfast Program

• Volunteer Library Program

Currently I’m also serving on:

• West Seneca Youth Bureau

• West Seneca Continuing Education

• West Seneca Woman’s Club

Our parent teacher groups work very hard for our students, the bond that they have created is unmatched.

I’m very proud of our high graduation rate, our Academy Programs as well as our NYS awarding winning Marching Band, award winning Music Educator, student mentoring, Blue Ribbon Elementary Building, student run Banks at each High School, ECIC AA South Coach of the Year for HS Football, I could go on and on. My goal is to continue to work closely with our administrators to assure each student graduates will all the things they need to have a successful, productive future.

West Seneca was voted the best place to raise your kids, it truly is and I would love to remain part of that excitement.
