The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

As a native of Orchard Park with 2 children enrolled in the district, I feel it is my duty to give back to my community. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of education and I am committed to the on-going improvement of the Orchard Park School District.

I teach students who are majoring in education at Buffalo State and Medaille Colleges and was nominated for “Professor of the Year” in 2012. I have won numerous awards for student retention and given national presentations on student learning. My career and community service opportunities have made me acutely aware of the many changes occurring in education today and its various challenges.

I believe that being an Orchard Park school board member carries with it an awesome responsibility. My academic background, career experience, and volunteer opportunities have prepared me to make the difficult decisions that will have to be made over the next several years. I believe I have the experience, understanding and commitment to provide leadership and serve as a board member for the Orchard Park school district.
