The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.
I, Dennis Kusak Jr., am 33 years old, married and am a father. I graduated from Depew High School in 1998. After high school I attended Erie Community College (North), where I received a degree in Criminal Justice A.A.S. In October of 2000, I enlisted into the U.S. Army as an Infantryman on a 4-year contract. I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY, and assigned to the 101st Airborne Division’s, 187th Infantry Regiment. During my time in the Army, I was deployed twice: Operation Enduring Freedom (2002) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003). I am currently employed as a Police Officer for the Town of Cheektowaga. I have been with the department for almost eight years. I am assigned to the Day Shift Patrol. I am also a member of the Department’s Tactical Training Unit, a Field Training Officer and the School Resource Officer for the Cheektowaga Central School District.
I am seeking your vote because I hope to enhance the positive image of the Cheektowaga Central School District. Several ways in which we might do this good work together:
• Be supportive of our teachers in this era of education reform.
• Create more opportunities for the Cheektowaga community to visit and become apart of our schools.
• Engage our parents in meaningful, purposeful conversations about our children.
• Maintain fiscal responsibility, while keeping children our #1 concern.
