The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

When I was first appointed to the Starpoint school board I was informed at the training session for board of education members that it would take a couple of years to really get the swing of things. Some veteran board members said this to me also. They were both correct. I now have a handle on how things work and would like to continue helping Starpoint progress to a higher level. I believe I have assisted the board in keeping the budget under control, agreeing to responsible contracts, and instituting important policies. Many of these policies protect our children, others set discipline levels and others have been put in place to restrict spending.

As far as my background, I am currently a captain for the Niagara Falls Fire Department and work part time at the Seneca Niagara Casino as an EMT/Security guard. To name a few other positions, I served as secretary of the union, trustee, vice president of the toy fund, honor guard, and many other capacities. I worked previously part time as an Immigration Inspector at the bridges in Niagara. I served as president and vice president of Falcon Aquatics Swim Club also.

My wife, Robyn volunteers for various activities at Starpoint. She also works at her profession and keeps our family rolling smoothly. I have four wonderful children, that attend Starpoint or previously did. Marc is graduating from Brockport this year. Zachary is a sophomore at Alfred University and Alec and Haley are in eleventh and seventh grade respectively. Each have greatly benefitted from being at our school.

There is continually more work to be done and I would like to be a part of it. Thank you for allowing me to serve you in my first term.
