The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

I am running for the school board in Lockport to serve my community. I have a strong conviction that people should give back to the community that has provided so much to them. Both my children were educated in the Lockport School System. They both achieved a lot and were readily able to transition into college. As for my qualifications, I have worked in the auto industry for 34 years. I have held positions in engineering, purchasing, operations and program management. I believe my background gives me a unique position on the school board. A board is given two basic tasks: provide a quality education while being fiscally responsible. With my background, I tend to view each situation from a business perspective. That is, I evaluate a given topic based on the value of its merits versus the cost. Balancing this with the educational expertise of the district leads to better decisions being made.
