The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

My name is Jenelle Nadler and I am running for a seat on the Holland Board of Education. I was raised in Holland and am a proud HCS alumni. I have two children who are the fourth generation of my family to attend Holland Central. I have been involved in the school since my daughter attended kindergarten, and I’ve been an active PTO member for five years, three of which I was president. I have attended board meetings for many years and have been on various school committees. I was the recipient of Holland’s Highest Honor in 2011 and was named the NFL Play60’s Super Parent on behalf of P&G in 2012.

This school has always been the very heart of this community, and my goal is to be a voice in preserving the district while being mindful of the fiscal limitations that have plagued many districts in recent years. It is very important that the right decisions are being made because the sustainability of the district is at stake. I will always listen to all recommendations and vote my conscience on what is right for the students and stakeholders of the district. I believe we also need to be mindful of maintaining what we have, and when the resources are available, build upon them.

We recently hired two extraordinary principals, and now our most important task is to choose an outstanding superintendent to lead the district. Our number one priority should always be to provide the students of HCS all of the opportunities needed to achieve excellence in all of their academic endeavors. I have been, and will continue to be a great supporter of this district. It would be a great honor to be elected to the Holland Central School Board of Education on May 21st.
