The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

Are you looking for positive change and fresh ideas for the Board of Education? I care about you and your children as they go through their schooling. Everything is critically important where it concerns your children, and you deserve an approachable, accountable candidate that will solve the problem.

I have seen the issues facing the Board of Education firsthand, having attended all of the meetings over the last two years as the Student Delegate. The most critical matters facing our District are the reduction in state aid and shifting of elementary school students, however every concern is important, including busing, academics, teachers, clubs, and programs.

I am very civic-minded and have worked very hard to achieve leadership positions and maintain a standard of excellence. My credentials include Student Council President, West Seneca Environmental Commission Board Member, National Honor Society Member, French Honor Society President, W.S. Historical Society Tour Guide, and Buffalo-Niagara Riverkeeper Site Captain, overseeing our waterways’ health.

I am attending Buffalo State College in the fall, majoring in Political Science and Government. I will remain a resident of West Seneca, living with my mom and 6th grade sister. The flexibility of my college schedule will allow me to fully serve the residents of West Seneca.

I’ve “walked the walk” in our schools’ halls, and now I’m ready to “talk the talk”. Every child is exceptional, and should be prepared and empowered with confidence to be successful upon graduation, and this is my personal goal for your children.
