The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

Children are the future capital of any nation. One way to safeguard and strengthen our future is to provide a superior and well-rounded education to our children. As a proud parent, an educator and a professional, having lived in Williamsville for 23 years, I announce my candidacy to serve on the Williamsville School board, enabling us to take our schools to a higher level of excellence in education of our children for a better future. I have been teaching in higher education internationally since 1976, having taught in India, England, Venezuela, and finally in the USA. I believe with my qualifications and experience along with international exposure gives me a unique expertise to offer to the Williamsville Central School District. During current economic and financial environments, it is essential to sustain the excellence in education and student achievement which our schools have established over the last few years. My daughter having been through the Williamsville Schools, received the superb education as a student of our school district, and I would like to give back to our community by serving on the School Board. I have earned an M.B.A. and Ph.D. and have several years of teaching, industrial and consulting experience. I have already served a three-years term as a member of the Williamsville Central School Board and would like to continue to support efforts to enhance the academic excellence of our students.
