The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

Williamsville is a great place to live. Perhaps the most important factor in determining where I wanted to raise my family was the quality of the school system. The Williamsville Central School district is everything its high rankings imply. I am confident my children are receiving a great education. The reason I am seeking to remain on the School Board is to ensure my School District maintains its high standard for all students within the District while acting financially responsible so as to not overburden the tax base. As the President and CEO of Sisters of Charity Hospital I have the knowledge and experience of managing a budget almost twice as large as the School Districts. I lead in an environment of tight revenue and logical expense control. As we have seen county wide this Spring, the tax burden on our communities is increasing at a concerning rate. Tight fiscal responsibility is critical but so is the education of our children. There is a balance between them and my hope is to be given the opportunity to continue to promote excellence in Williamsville while cutting expenses smartly through efficiencies. This will not only ensure our children are receiving a great education, but also continue to make Williamsville a place where families want to raise their children (bolstering home values). In addition to currently serving on the Williamsville Central School District Board, I also serve as the President of the Board for Explore & More Children’s Museum. You may have heard about Explore & More recently as we plan for our exciting move to Canalside. I strongly believe that by committing to our children, both through education and discovery, we are ensuring a bright future for our community. I want to continue this important work and ask for your support.
