The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

One of the greatest investments we can make is to invest in the education of our children. As a former teacher (BS in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland and a MS in Health and Physical Education from Canisius), I have first hand knowledge of how important the educational system is toward the development of children. My husband and I have been privileged to live within the Clarence School District where our two children are receiving a superior education from one of the most cost-effective districts in New York State.

We all have a responsibility to help maintain the tradition of educational excellence in Clarence. I have taken an active role in helping to support the mission of the Clarence School Board by serving seven years as a Harris Hill PTO Board member (the last three and a half years as President), two years on the Harris Hill Shared Decision Making Team, one year on the Middle School Improvement Team, been a member of the District Strategic Planning Team for three years and a member of the District’s President’s Council for seven years.

Due to the recent financial problems of New York State, Boards of Education have had to make difficult decisions. I am fully committed to ensuring that future students have the same opportunities enjoyed by past students. Please allow me to help continue the educational excellence in Clarence School District by voting for me on May 21st.
