Steven R. Majetic, a retired Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority employee, died Tuesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a lengthy illness. He was 61.
Born in Lancaster, Mr. Majetic worked for 28 years as a communications specialist with the NFTA.
He loved music and excelled at playing the guitar. He also had an extensive collection of musical instruments.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Mr. Majetic worked for Moog Music, where he took part in the production of synthesizers. The job allowed him to meet many musicians from that era, including the bands Yes and Heart.
In 1987, Mr. Majetic started attending Erie Community College, where he earned an associate’s degree in electrical engineering.
He was a licensed amateur radio operator and an amateur astronomer who enjoyed building telescopes.
Mr. Majetic is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, the former Christine Acosta; two daughters, Karen and Susan; and two sons, Samuel and David.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today in Amigone Funeral Home, 8440 Main St., Clarence.
