The Warsaw Board of Education has chosen the principal of LeRoy High School as its next superintendent.
The district announced Friday its board had unanimously selected Joseph Englebert to serve as superintendent beginning July 1.
The board cited Englebert’s “great character, intelligence and skill” in announcing its selection. Englebert, of Warsaw, served as assistant principal and athletic director at Pembroke Central School District before being named principal of LeRoy High School in 2008.
The Warsaw superintendent position had been filled by Tom Cox on an interim basis since last fall. The previous superintendent, Valerie K. Burke, resigned in September as a result of a belated disclosure of a drunken-driving arrest by state troopers in 2011.
