The Rev. Salvatore J. Cusimano, longtime pastor of St. John Bosco Parish in Sheridan, died Sunday in McAuley Residence, Town of Tonawanda. He was 92.
The Buffalo native was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Canisius College and Our Lady of the Angels Seminary.
He was ordained in 1949 by Bishop John F. O’Hara and was assigned to the missionary apostolate.In 1950, he was appointed assistant pastor at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk and a year later moved to Most Precious Blood Church in Angola.
He then served as assistant pastor at Our Lady of Loretto in Buffalo, St. John in Jamestown and St. Bartholomew in Buffalo. He was appointed pastor of St. John Bosco in 1966. He retired in 1983. Survivors include a sister, Rita Whalen.
Bishop Richard J. Malone will preside at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Margaret Catholic Church, 1395 Hertel Ave.
