The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will once again present a free lawn concert at the Knox Farm State Park this summer.

The orchestra will perform for the second consecutive summer at 7 p.m. June 27 on the lawn adjacent to the Knox mansion in the park. The event is part of a larger effort to help draw interest in further renovating the main house.

The event is coordinated through the Friends of Knox Farm State Park, in conjunction with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Concert guests may bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers with them. Parking will only be permitted on the Neil and Barbara Chur Equestrian Center fields off Knox Road. Lawn guests may arrive after 4:30 p.m. There will be no trash receptacles in the park, so lawn guests must carry out what they bring in.

If it rains, the concert will be canceled and there is no rain date planned.

“Tapas on the Terrace,” a catered indoor dining event, will be held as a fundraiser in the mansion. The event, at $100 per person, is offered to raise money to support continuing renovations of the main house. Guests who opt to participate in the indoor dining would receive a light dinner at the main house and listen to the concert afterward from designated seating outdoors and VIP parking. There will be an open bar.

“Tapas on the Terrace” tickets are available for sale from the Friends of Knox Web site: friendsofknoxpark.org and from the Elm Street Bakery in East Aurora.

The Friends of Knox Park group noted that decorators of the Junior League Decorators’ Show House that presently is ongoing, have made substantial improvements to the mansion, but that the house still needs insulation, a caterers’ kitchen and exterior painting.

Sponsoring the event are Lake Shore Savings Bank, Realty USA and Fox Run Orchard Park.
