CAMBRIA - Shirley A. Prohaska, a longtime office worker at Muck Motors in Getzville, died Thursday in Northgate Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, where she had been a patient for three years. She was 84.
Born Shirley A. Westra in the City of Tonawanda, she graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1946.
She worked as a ticket agent at American Airlines in the 1940s and 1950s, first at Buffalo International Airport and later at the airline’s ticket office in the Statler Hilton.
Later, Mrs. Prohaska became an accounts receivable clerk at Muck Motors, where she worked from 1978 until the early 1990s.
She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ransomville, where she worked at bingo games and assisted with financial duties in the office for many years.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and participated in the church’s senior bowling league.
Mrs. Prohaska also assisted on the family’s dairy and grape farm. Her husband of 53 years, Frank L., died in 2010.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. and Gary W.; a daughter, Beth P. Wilson; and a sister, Joann Onofrio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1700 North French Road, Getzville.
