OLEAN – The torch for the 2013 New York Special Olympics will begin its journey across the state at 10 a.m. today at the Olean Municipal Building.

Taking part with athletes in the first leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run will be officers from the State Police, Olean Police Department, Cuba Police Department, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Bonaventure University ROTC.

The run will proceed along Route 417 to the St. Bonaventure campus. Torch runs will be held in communities statewide, leading up to opening ceremonies June 14 in Buffalo.
