Cheyenne B. Hopkins, a former business owner, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital after a short illness. He was 55.

A Buffalo native, Mr. Hopkins graduated from East High School.

He was the owner of Shy’s Downtown Steak Shop on Jefferson Avenue for about four years.

He enjoyed playing basketball, football and watching hockey.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, the former Lavette Dorcine Gray; three sons, Cheyenne A. Jr., Michael A. and David J.; a daughter, Aliyah; and two brothers, Curtis and Michael.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church, 2930 Bailey Ave.
