The pressure to reform New York State’s Rockefeller-era drug laws will be discussed Thursday and Friday as representatives from more than three dozen agencies gather for a conference titled “Leading the Way: Toward a Public Health & Safety Approach to Drug Policy in New York.”
The conference, sponsored by the University at Buffalo and the Drug Policy Alliance, begins at 6 p.m. Thursday with the screening of an award-winning documentary film about the drug war, “The House I Live In,” in the Marquis de Lafayette, in the Hotel @ The Lafayette at 391 Washington St.
It continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday with panels and discussions in the Ramada Hotel and Conference Center, 2402 N. Forest Road, Getzville. The conference is free and open to the public, but preregistration is required because space is limited. To register, visit www.drugpolicy.org/events.
