Anthony V. Fasanello Sr., an attendance officer for the Buffalo Board of Education, died Monday in his Clarence home. He was 69.

He was born in Buffalo and lived in the area his entire life.

Mr. Fasanello earned a bachelor’s degree at Canisius College and a master’s in education at the University at Buffalo. He worked as an attendance officer from 1966 until his retirement in 2000. He received the Attendance Teacher of the Year Award in 1997.

Mr. Fasanello was a captain and military band drummer in ROTC. He also was a member of the Canisius College DiGamma Honor Society, the Buffalo Attendance Teachers Association, and the Buffalo School Masters Association.

He was an accomplished drummer and artist, and played in a jazz band.

Survivors include his wife, the former Madeline Barone; two sons, Antonio Jr. and Dr. Joseph; two daughters, Victoria Greene and Monica Johnson; a sister, Claudette Lauria; and a brother, Sebastian.

Prayers will be said at 8:15 a.m. Saturday in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road at Main Street, Eggertsville.
