Teresa Lawrence was introduced Monday evening as the new superintendent of the Grand Island Central School District at a joint meeting of the School Board and the Grand Island Town Board in Town Hall.
Lawrence, director of curriculum and staff development in the Clarence Central Schools, has accepted a three-year contract, acting School Board President Paul Krull said. Originally scheduled to take over from interim Superintendent Paul Hashem on July 1, she plans to assume the post earlier than expected, he added.
“She’s very excited, and she can’t wait to get going,” Krull said. “She’s going to start around June 10. She was willing to start a couple of weeks sooner.”
