MUMFORD – Genesee Country Village and Museum will open its summer season on Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 and 12, with a variety of historic sights, sounds and flavors.

On opening day May 11, there will be demonstrations of 19th century candy-making and tastings of historic chocolate and custom-brewed beer from CB Brewing Co. in Honeoye Falls.

All mothers will be admitted free on Mother’s Day, when there will be fashion shows, 19th century dancing, a quilting bee and instructions in the customs associated with a lady’s fan. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $15.50 for adults, $12.50 for children ages 4 to 16.

New to the museum this year will be a Celtic Faire on June 29, featuring the music, dance and food of Scotland and Ireland. A Civil War re-enactment will take place July 20 and 21.
