Daemen College has been awarded a share of the Indy Cup — the all-sports trophy for the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association for 2012-13. Daemen amassed 47 points in the Indy Cup standings — 15 from mandatory sports (men’s and women’s basketball and men’s soccer) and 22 from “at-large” sports to tie Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) atop the leaderboard. Oakland City (Ind.) finished third with 46 points.

Daemen will leave the ICAA after only one year of membership to become a member of the NCAA Division II East Coasts Conference.

Canisius seniors Morgan Leonard and Lindsey Morgan (Lancaster) earned weekly honors in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse. Leonard, Offensive Player of the Week, scored five goals as Canisius completed a 6-0 season in the MAAC regular season with a 16-13 victory over Marist. Morgan earned Defensive Player of the Week after she came up with five ground balls, caused four turnovers and scored four goals in the same game.

Canisius will open the conference tournament Friday against fourth-seeded Siena in Poughkeepsie.

Two Niagara baseball players earned MAAC honors for last week. Jordan Schwartz earned Player of the Week honors after he batted .533 with five RBIs and four runs in four games. Anthony Caringi, Pitcher of the Week, won two games allowed no earned runs with eight strikeouts in nine innings. Niagara defeated UB and won a series against Fairfield for the week.
