Former Obama White House aide Bill Burton will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from the City Honors/Fosdick-Masten Park Foundation in a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Museum Room at City Honors School, 186 E. North St.
Burton, a 1995 graduate of City Honors, was national press secretary for President Obama’s 2008 campaign, then was deputy White House press secretary and special assistant to the president until he left the White House in 2011. After helping establish and lead a super PAC for Obama in 2012, he became managing director of the Washington, D.C., office of Global Strategy Group, a public affairs and research consulting firm.
Other honorees will include retired City Honors teacher Diana Rochford and Les Hoffman, a former foundation board member and City Honors parent.
The ceremony will be followed by a party at 6 p.m.
