Sept. 11, 1934 – April 23, 2013

Waclaw “Walter” Mazur, a carpenter and owner of Mazur Construction Corp. for 42 years, died Tuesday at Hospice Buffalo in Cheektowaga after battling cancer. He was 78.

Born in Chelm, Poland, Mr. Mazur came to the United States in 1956 at age 21.

Educated in Poland and skilled in cabinet-making, he started his own construction company in 1963. Though he retired in 2005, he continued to do small jobs for former clients.

He liked to shoot pool and was a member of the billiards team at the Cheektowaga Senior Citizens Center.

He is survived by his wife, the former Loni Hoepfner; and two daughters, Crystal Ockenfuss and Cynthia Mazur.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady Help of Christians Church Chapel, 4125 Union Road, Cheektowaga.
