The WNY Flash have won three championships in three different leagues in as many seasons but still find themselves trying to collect their first “W” of the season in their new league.

They resume that quest Saturday night at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester when they host Boston (0-0-1) at 7:30 in their home opener. The Flash (0-1-1) enter tonight’s NWSL clash coming off a 1-1 tie at Washington last Saturday but the tie proved costly as they lost the services of U.S. National team star, FIFA player of the year and Pittsford native Abby Wambach. Wambach, who took a ball of the head in that tie, finished the game but will tonight sit for precautionary reasons with a head injury.

Even without Wambach, WNY will have a star-studded lineup that includes U.S. national team member Carli Lloyd along with Canadians Bryanna McCarthy and Jodi-Ann Robinson.
