Three high schools were awarded cash prizes Wednesday as winners in a rain barrel painting contest sponsored Coca-Cola in conjunction with the Erie County Department of Environment & Planning, the Western New York Stormwater Coalition and the Erie County Water Quality Committee. The contest was designed to teach students about stormwater pollution.

Winner was a team from Lewiston-Porter High School, led by teacher Joshua Milovich, which received $500. Winning $250 prizes were Buffalo City Honors School and Lancaster High School. In all, more than 300 students from 25 schools took part, decorating converted syrup concentrate barrels donated by Coca-Cola. To view the entries, visit
