Buffalo police are looking for a person of interest, and Elmwood Franklin School officials are warning parents about two recent incidents near the school, one involving a young man who motioned for a child to come to his small blue pickup truck last Wednesday evening.
Police say that the young man, driving a cobalt or royal-blue Ford pickup, pulled into a Middlesex Road driveway and attempted to lure the young boy toward the truck. The boy instead ran inside his home.
But authorities reported that a truck with the same description was seen Friday afternoon in the Middlesex-Meadow Road area and then driving around the school, which is located on New Amsterdam Avenue, just north of Amherst Street.
“Please take this opportunity to talk with your children about safety from strangers and remind them of how to respond in such a situation,” school officials stated in a message to parents. “We do not want to cause alarm, but feel strongly about taking a precaution such as this.”
Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call or text the Buffalo police confidential tip line at (716) 847-2255.
