WILSON – A man who appeared to be drunk and was walking through property on Wilson-Cambria Road was charged for the theft of a bottle he was drinking from, Niagara County sheriff’s deputies reported Tuesday.

Kurt A. Schultz, 56, of Maple Road was charged with trespassing, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and petit larceny at 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies responding to a trespassing call found Schultz, who appeared highly intoxicated, walking on the roadway and in possession of an open bottle of Crown Royal with a pouring tip attached, investigators said. He told deputies that he purchased the bottle from the Wilson House Inn, but deputies said the bartender told them she did not sell the bottle, but noticed it missing after a man matching Schultz’s description had been in the bar.

The man who called police said he arrived home from work at midnight and found an intoxicated stranger drinking from a bottle on his porch. He said the man cursed at him and then left, staggering away with the bottle in his hand. The man later was identified as Schultz, according to deputies.
