This week’s prom dress giveaway for high school girls continues for one last day, Friday afternoon, on the stage at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.
Organizers coordinating the ninth annual Gowns 4 Proms event had mistakenly said last week that today would be the last day to get the dresses. Instead Shea’s, at 646 Main St., will be open for one more giveaway day from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Interested girls should check with their school to see if it is participating. If not, register online at colvincleaners.com.
The first two days of the Shea’s giveaway, which included seamstress volunteers who adjusted dresses, went without any problems despite the crowds, said Paul Billoni, owner of Colvin Cleaners, one of the sponsors.
He estimated about 250 girls came Monday to choose from some of the 4,000 dresses that were a mix of donations and what Billoni’s wife, Cyndee, found shopping for past season fashions.
