Junior guard Billy Baron received the Canisius College men’s basketball Most Valuable Player award at the annual end-of-year luncheon last weekend.
Other awards went to senior guard Harold Washington, junior forward Chris Manhertz, junior forward Jordan Heath and senior guard Isaac Sosa.
Washington was named Defensive Most Valuable Player. Manhertz was named Most Improved Player and Heath received the Charles Eppolito Award by the coaching staff. The Eppolito Award is given to the team’s unsung hero.
Sosa received the Father Demske Academic Award. He holds a 3.48 grade point average as a finance major.
Baron led the Golden Griffins with a 17.2 points-per-game average, third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and led the conference in assists (5.0). His 584 points for the season are the most for a Canisius player in 28 seasons.
