The Buffalo Bandits have a simple task in front of them. It’s a matter of win or go home.
The Bandits will qualify for the National Lacrosse League playoffs if they defeat the Rochester Knighthawks at home on Saturday night. If Buffalo loses, its season is over.
The Bandits ended a six-game losing skid on Saturday by beating Washington, 15-10, to stay alive. Buffalo has a 6-9 record. Rochester split its two games over the weekend while Philadelphia beat Toronto. Both the Knighthawks and Wings are 7-8.
If Buffalo and Philadelphia (playing Washington) win on Saturday, the Bandits would finish third in the East and open the playoffs in Philadelphia. If Buffalo wins and Philadelphia loses, the Bandits would win a three-way tie and finish in second place in the East.
A Buffalo loss would drop the Bandits to 6-10. They would miss the playoffs even if Colorado loses to Minnesota next week. The Mammoth would also be 6-10 but have a tiebreaker edge on Buffalo. The fifth-place team in the West makes the playoffs if it has a better record than the fourth-place team in the East.
